Wordpress

Episode 40 of WordPress Weekly discussed a wide range of topics from the release of WordPress MU 2.7 to the All In One SEO Plugin reaching one million downloads. Also sad to say that this was Keith Murray’s last episode as co-host. I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

Special Announcement:

Kym Huynh co-host of the WordPress centric podcast, WordCast was in a terrible car accident. Kym was in the middle of a three week vacation celebrating his recent graduation from law school when he ended up in a bad car accident. Unfortunately, Kym suffered quite a…

Weblog Tools Collection: Et Tu Google? Then Fail, Net Safety

Wordpress

I trust Google. I use GMail as my primary email address and store stuff in my mailbox that is of crucial importance to my existence as a citizen of this modern world. Over the past couple of months, Google’s Orkut has dealt a deadly blow to that trust that is making me rethink my allegiance towards anything Google.

I am the owner of a midly popular community on Orkut with about 25k users. Since I was given the privilege of being a beta tester on Orkut, I had created a community called Calcutta many years ago and that community has since,…

Lorelle on WP: More WordPress Logogate

Wordpress

As mentioned in WordPress News: Logogate, WordPress.tv, WordPressMU, BuddyPress, and More, WordPress Logogate continues.

As announced, Matt Mullenweg has added a script to WordPress.com that forces all the variations of WordPress to the proper spelling with a capital P in the “Press” part of the name. It is the trademark way it should be spelled, and it’s annoying to many in the WordPress community to see it uncapitalized.

There are a variety of WordPress Plugins you can add to your blog to do the same thing, making it easy to not miss your p’s:

A Plugin to Correctly Spell WordPress. Not Wordpress. Not…

There is something distinctly refreshing about re-visiting a past tool that you’ve used; much like finding an old install of Diablo 1 and losing 5 hours as you remember exactly how much fun it is to play. I dare say I’ll experince the same with StarCraft2 and Diablo 3 at some point.

Though for now it’s the rekindled fun of programming with Java (no no not for vBulletin, don’t fret), the Sun Microsystems variety.

It’s been near 6-7 years now, so getting back up to speed in version…

vBulletin.com Blog Entry: vB 4.0: Template Merging and 3-Way Comparison
Author: Mike Sullivan
Published: 30th January 2009 04:12 PM

One of the most common complaints about vBulletin’s upgrade process is applying the template changes. While the template history feature helped a little bit, it didn’t go far enough. vBulletin 4.0 will introduce a feature to make applying template changes much easier: automatic merging and 3-way comparison.

Whenever you upgrade, we will automatically look for templates that have changed and see if you customized those templates. If you have, we will automatically try to merge the changes in. If this succeeds, you won’t…
