1. If the government knew then they should have been taking people out forcibly before if they're willing to do it now

2. Bush should have been tapping into the oil reserve BEFORE the hurricane hit. If he knew the storm was coming (this seems to be an agreed upon fact) then how could he not see that a fourth of the US's oil production was at risk?! Even after the hurricane hit he was still hesitant to do it

3. Again, if the hurricane was known, then the government needed to have prepared aid beforehand. I don't mean make pancakes for the soon-to-be-homeless and just sit and wait, but items that don't spoil such as bottled water and crackers... these things needed to be amassed beforehand. Not "Oh well we said the hurricane was going to hit so we just did nothing and it's their own faults"

3a. If it's their own faults, so what? Their own fault. We're not supposed to let people die because of a rash, prideful decision. Then again, look at Iraq and how our troops are dying for no reason...I stand corrected...

4. The government funneled money that was supposed to maintain the levvies into the war. The same war mentioned in point 3a (directly above). While I am not saying if they hadn't done this, New Orleans would have been surrounded with 30 foot walls, what I am saying is that the government is complaining about how people in New Orleans aren't cooperating when they do things that seem to convey the fact that the men higher up really don't give a damn. No pun intended.

In essence. Bush's fault? No. Not even the president can get an entire city evacuated in such a short period of time...not even a president with many more brain cells who didn't lie to the US so we would support him to go into Iraq, since apparently they were the ones really responsible for 9-11. Oops, he lied...but there are weapons of mass destruction! Oops...he lied again. Uhh... uhh... Liberals are anti-american!!!

Went on a tangent. That's for another debate. While it isn't one person's fault, the government definitely did not handle this well at all.
