I'd recommend experiementing, and trying out different things all the time. Creating a site is always a good way to do this, try creating buttons, then remake them under different designs.

Dont expect to generate wonderful images in seconds though, it will take months take generate a specific style to your work.

Jup, I can only give the same advice. There are people that think like 'yah! I have ps CS2, now I rule'. They think that once they have the programm, they are good at making stuff.

I have it myself also, and still I don't know half of everything, even less maybe. Although I find tutorials pretty usefull. Once do them, and then start experimenting yourself.

You can read tutorials, for like the first week you have it, aside from that You should not read tutorials.

Beleive me, cause then you'll just be like everyone else, same style, same layouts, etc. try to start your own unique type of brushing, or whatever it is you want to do.

Photoshop is more of a learning tool, tutorials will only teach you so much, but from there on out it's better to tinker with the progam.

Experimenting is the best way to learn, tutorials are very useful as well, some tutorials will allow you to learn how to use fillters, make brushes, and even teach you how to use photoshop for 3d objects,so they come very useful. The thing I dont recommend is downloading brushes,it gets addicting at times and does not allow you to do things you'd actually enjoy.
