Destroy those defaults!
Getting rid of all those defaults

Written for Invisionfree

Ok so you have just set up your forum, lets say you have made some new categories and forums, but no one seems to be going to your forum, to see why you have viewed many other forums, and all they have is a different skin and buttons, you think "Ok, I obvousily need a new skin and buttons, but how?" Well, this is the topic for you.

First and foremost get rid of that default skin! To do this go to
Admin Control panel-->Under Skinning and styles click manage style sheet you will see a large box of writing, that is the CSS (the code for the skin), so lets change it to something more interesting. To get a skin, you can go to many sites, but I recommend IFSZ. Once you have found a skin that you think is perfect, copy the text and then past it over the old one in you ACP click Edit CSS and whey! You have a new skin!

Now, the chances are that the default buttons clash with your new skin. Well we can sort that. If you go back to the IFSZ and go back to where you found the skin you are using, they may be a link saying "Button sets and board markers found here" if so click that link, download the buttons and skip to the next step. If it does not have one of those links, go back to the IFSZ and find some graphics in their database that somewhat suit your skin, download them and proceed to the next step.

Right, so you have you downloaded markers, you now need to go to a hosting site. I highly recommend Photobucket or Tinypic. On either of those sites you will see a "browse" button; click it and then click the file with all the icons in it. Note:The files may be in a .zip file, you may need to click the Extract all files link in the folder before you can host them.

Once they are hosted copy the URL they give you and go to you ACP-->Images and you will see a lot of small boxes. Which ever link you have, lets say the New reply one, paste that link into the correct box, making sure that nothing else is in it. However, a link is not enough, you have to put check the box to the side of it, and click Submit. Do this for all the icons you may have.

Now you should have a nice new defaultless board and should attract more members!

Nice work. It's true, too. Can't have a forum with no originality in it. Nobody would be interested in it.
