This Documentation is NOT and “Advertising Documentation.” This won’t teach you how to gain guests but how to encourage them to register”
Lingering guests are a big problem for a lot of forums. Seeing 5 guests online browsing around is fun, until you see they won’t register. Many guests will hang around at forums for months and still not even register. If your topics are all visible, and they don’t have the desire to post, why would they register? Hopefully this guide will teach you a few techniques to lure in those guests that just won’t click “register.” It is pretty annoying when you have put all your hard work into the forums and they browse but never register ? So heres a few tips ;
Register Box on Front Page
More than once I have had one of my friends not know how to register for a forum. You might think it would be uncommon but it really isn’t. The register button is hard to find for some of the “forum illiterate” users. However there is an easy way to make the register button more accessible and visible to your guests.
Make the permissions for this forum so that only guests can read it, this will make sure your members/staff/admins won’t have it on their screen when they are logged in.
Include “Member Only” Categories
“Member Only” categories are an excellent way to give perks to signing up. If you are a resource board, perhaps make the documentation, graphics database, and skin database, only viewable by members. General Chat related forums should add things such as a Media Database with links to funny videos, articles, and games. Both of these will make registering imperative to seeing most of the forum.
Be Sure to Keep Announcements Visible
If you were going to join a club, wouldn’t you want to know about stuff they did, the people running the club, and information about it? Well…so do guests. An announcement forum is a great place for a guest to get information about your site and see what kind of things your forum stands for. Pin important topics that will increase their knowledge of the forum and possible even include a “Information Desk” with guides of information about your forum specifically.
A forum to Success should add a Register now, and Log in Redirect forum for the guests to register also a good idea would be for example:
What do i get out of registering ?
♥ Free access to information on making your board a success
♥ Hints & Tips to attract members to your boads
♥ Free redirected Software & Hardware downloads
♥ Meet new people from the otherside of the world
♥ Be apart of The Community.

I hope this has helped
