Whilst some may think that having a logo, or a specific style in which your site name can be related to isn't important. Well those students taking Media Studies will assure you that this isn't the case. Having a brand or some sort, whether it be a collection of regually used colors such as those here at TSL. Which provide a blend of sky blue colors which is complimented within the site logo design.

Having a logo is important. Essential even. Because it allows members, and guests to feel more connected and involved with a website or company for that matter which provides a consistent and replicable logo which they will immediately assume subconsciously with your forum, your values and your ideologies. Powerful stuff a successful logo is. Imagine yourself thinking of Coca Cole, Nike, Adidas without the imagine of their all impressive and popular logos fading into your head.

Does these look familiar?

Because like with words, the mind only needs to see a segment of a image and design to automatically assume something subliminally. And because of this a good logo can actually resonate particular themes and ideologies. For example the Tommy logo resembles that of an American flag; meaning consumers will automatically present the ideology of American being individual, accepting, and freedom will all be transmitted into what consumers believe Tommy's values and beliefs are too. All because of a three color image!

Using a simple graphic design program such as Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro which are all available for free trial downloads, would be perfectly suitable. Although requesting the services of a paid professional may in fact bring more successful results as they will have experienced and insider knowledge as to what can subliminally and consciously effect those viewing the design.

Another rapidly increasing essentiality for logo's is for them to be accessible and re-usable in a variety of designs and textures. For example reprinting the logo in print, as a logo, letterhead, in a variety of sizes, and colors too will be essential to make sure that the design is accessible and easily re-adjusted. Another good tip for forum design is the following;
  • Ensure the text is readable, large, and simplistic in its font.
  • Make a design which has complimentary colors.
  • Simplicity will win more votes than a complex design.
  • Make sure that your logo isn't repetitive or unoriginal.
  • Research other similar forums in theme and view their designs.
  • Understand what colors can symbolize. The following page provides you with an appropriate site to understand what shapes and colors can make an end user feel.

Thanks for the feedback Edward. I had to cut short my article because writing at College means you have to go under cover to make sure you arent caught by patrolling library staff. Anyway completed now

Mm. Very well written. A distinguishable symbol is step one to people recognizing your forum as something unique.
