Google Adsense basically places on your forums/websites content relevant advertisements, the more clicks these ads receive the more money you make. Of course their is slightly more too it, with Google often very stringent with regards to invalid/duplicate/excessive clicks. I would certainly recommend it as a source of income though

I don't actually want to make any money out of my boards I do it all for fun (I got nothing better to do anyways) and get a kick out of folk having fun If I do add anything that makes money, then that'll be put into getting prizes for competitions and nothing else

That's noble, Steve. But for some, all the time and effort they put in has to be worth some sort of monetary value. So they try to generate profit. Personally, I don't even worry about revenue until I get a totally successful forum going up, I don't usually try to take risks and wind up losing money for no cause.

I'm not quite at the point where I can say that I actually make a significant amount.

But I do make some via Google Adsense. Around 5-20 dollars a month.
