I personally dont recommend topsites. Not only do they clug your site full of horrible images, and linkbacks which not only slows page creation time but also devalues your site in Google eyes but none of these topsites are actually linking to you; they are using a php code such as id?=23 which would translate to ; www.googleexample.com ... therefore when a search engine spidered that particular forum it would be completely at unawares your site even existed there.

Try instead of linking to Topsites trading links with actual forums.
So your link is displayed on their forum and theirs on yours.

You mean soap as in Eastenders?

To be honest, Top Sites used to be on the rise, but after everyone pretty much figured out that have an ID as your URL didn't really do much for your traffic or pagerank, they slowly started dropping.

I remember when I could go to a website and be bombarded with TS links, though people are dropping them left and right. A Top Sites list was a good concept, but I don't think anyones' truly developed a fool-proof method of generating a good listing as of yet (at least that I'm aware of).

Commune is right. Topsites are overrated. I never even pay attention to topsites.. Whenever I do, I rarely get what I am looking for.

Aardvarkind topsites new version 5.0 doesn't use id's anymore. They thought it best to display your true url. So check into some of them. Not sure about any soap topsites. But I run a few gaming and anime topsites.

Yes you are right.
Most of the pages were lousy.
You could use a cron job to put your page on the top.
This was really bad :-)
