Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd introduce myself!

I'm a web developer from East Anglia, UK. I've run a vBulletin forum for 11 months now, with about 16,000 posts and 750 users. I've just finished up with that project and am moving on to something else now - which is why I've been checking out forums like this!

I'm in to PHP/MySQL and am currently working on a new CMS for my site - this takes up most of my time.

Welcome to The Staff Lounge James, glad to have you here, your forums seem to have some good solid statistics, pretty similar in ratio to what TSL currently have. Are you creating a custom designed CMS for your website or basing it off a popular publically avaiable product such as Drupal, Wordpress etc ... ?

I've tried a number of CMS' and Drupal and Mambo have come closest to what I like, but with my last site we used one CMS for a few months (coded by a friend) and then moved over to another one which I coded - less advanced but did the job.

I'm basing it on the content and the things I want to be able to cover on the site, going to Wordpress which I used to use for my weblog for inspiration, or to see how things are done. I'm hoping to get things like newsletter subscriptions working under the same vB username/password.

At the moment all I have is a really simple weblog which I update daily. I'm working on the site behind the scenes and won't start using it until it's all finished - a mistake I made before was to add to the site as I go along. I didn't have the time to do it, so it looked pretty bad with a lot of coming soon promises.
