The original owner, an ex-co-admin/ex-main-admin, didn't believe in banning and giving people second chances. Since I've taken over I'd like to keep that same type of forum running, as we never got much trouble so far, how can I keep order and not ban? As I think I got some people who will cause trouble coming along soon. << Any suggestions?

Suspensions? Warnings? Moderated posting?

Well we came to a mutual agreement long ago that "banning" was the genreal term for suspensions and stuff like that... But will warnings really do it? And I'm not sure Moderated Posting will work....

Moderated Posting would work.. And if you have to warn them enough, then suspend them for a short period of time. Banning is the last option, obviously.

Try installing the Inferno Warning System created by Zero Tolerance, this way members have a creater understanding of what they have done wrong and just how far they can push it before getting suspended or eventually banned.

I like the Advanced Warning System better. It has a quite selection of features.

As long as the members know what they have done and the consequences have been explained, you have to do what you have to do to uphold order on the site.

If your forum is active, you shouldn't worry about banning a few members.
