I was just reading these 'staff' articles, and I missed like one thing, and I'd like to know how that is going with other admins on other forums.

How do you keep contact with your staff? Do you only have contact with them on the board, or do you also keep in touch with like instant messengers? And what do you think is the best way to keep contact with them?

Well a lot of boards tend to have Staff Forums where they can discuss matters, and normally, they contain a Contact topic, with every staffees AIM, MSN, YIM, etc.. So normally, all the staff can talk to the other members when they sign on, whther it be IM or PM, or e-mail.

In my opinion, I think Staff forums work pretty well.

Preferrably, AIM or Yahoo, depending on who's online and what we feel like using. I prefer AIM as Yahoo tends to lag a bit and automatically shuts down now and then, AIM's always been good to me .

Mods are Team members are more prone to keep in touch with each other. I don't know about Admins though...the only one's I truly communicated with are Mike and Dave.

But yeah, keeping in touch shows that you know there alive and not just your work droids.

We've got a staff... lounge

And we all have each other on MSN and AIM, so when we need to talk to someone, we can usually get a hold of them pretty quick.

Ok, now my story lol ^^. I have a special board for staff members only, where we can discuss about important things, but also can do a staff only rp, and enjoy ourselves a bit. This is moslty to keep the moderators (professors on my board, not real moderators) up to date on things happening on the board.

Besides that, all my important staff, *my two co-admins, and two gmods* have msn. So if there's like something really important *or not ofcourse* we can just go into msn and chat with all five in one screen ^^. I really love msn for that ^^

Not big enoough to worry yet, but if it ever does get to that stage then it will be a case of "getting together" in a Staff only forum or using PMs for uncertainties

Easy, ask them for their MSN/AIM/YIM or email.

I keep contact with my staff via IRC, Instant Message, and on the board itself.

In my previous forums i have used a Staff Contact Topic whereby staff post in their AIM/MSN etc .. details for further discussion with one another. Although most of the time i prefer to hand out a nice little PM, for those less urgent matters.

I created some internal boards for the staff where I answer their special questions or just chitchat with them.

I got a second full admin a few month ago and from time to time I try to make him a present.
Its ok that I do this job for nothing but I like the way he spends his free time to support me so I try to make him a present from time to time.
Could be something small and even a THANKS YOU is ok.

Its a little bit like in a relationship
