To what extent will you permit flaming, or insulting comments on your forum, do you handle each case essentially in each own context as i try and do or have a more strict simplisitic policy which bars anything of the sort?

Having a policy never works. Every situation is different. Personally, if it's in a debate, I try to keep it rid of personal attacks that are away from the actual debate itself. I will let people argue, but not begin an all out flame war with people just throwing out insults. If it's tasteless and worthless, then I would just warn them all and lock the thread, depending on severity.

Im pretty leniant on everyone on my forum. Hell, even spam doesn't bother me....

Flaming is a big problem to video game boards. People just have different oppinions, and you can't change them, but, I try to tell others to respect the consoles, respect other members oppinions, and they will respect yours.....

Yeah Yoda you're absolutely right. Gaming forums are flamefests. Which is why you should be somewhat reckless in punishing those who do it. Without thinking about it, just lock the threads, suspend or ban the users, and as long as you have enough members, people will still post there.

Don't allow it but assess it at the time, so anybody trolling is likely to suffer more than a respondent The rules are there, including the usual proviso - I can do what I think is necessary for harmony!

Ryan->We use a warning system. 1 warning=20% and so on untill 100% means suspension. If they do it once more, and only once more after suspension, I WILL ban them...

But i've never suspended anyone....I think I will on my admin Just to see what happeneds.

I have seen it on other forums and it seems to work so I will be adopting the same.. They have a forum specific to flamers if your caught flaming anywhere else your post is moved to the specific forum and your warned to keep it in that particular forum....

Seems to work and there is a warning on the forum that forum is for specificly flamin so enter at own risk..I found after while the forum became more af a entertainment for the members where they could have a laugh at each others expense seemed that nobody took major offfense and were happy that they were not being edited due to a flame it just had to be in a certain forum.. Seemed to keep the rest of the board mildly free from flaming..
