We have all had them, those niggling members who always see the forum as a failure, lack lustre and out of date performance, and dispite your best wishes are always disappointed and unsatified. So how on earth do you handle these predictable guys?

Well, I used to be just like that. Remember Mike? I always wanted you to keep changing my pip logo's, like, every other day.

Well, you can't please them all. You just need to build the forum in a way both sides can agree on. And you have to learn to let things slide everynow and than to.

Running a forum aint easy...I'm learning that with Xeronics forum. I'm always fixing something and someone is always finding something to complain about.

Making a forum is hard indeed, there are always members saying they have seen better and require the forum to match up with the other forum they have seen, when you finally have, they say that they have seen another forum that is even better! Very annoying, but starting to argue with thoose people is not good, then the members who likes the forum will think that the admin is very un-experienced and has a lack of administrationship.

I accept their input and if they keep harping on it, I thank them over and over for their input and say I will take it into consideration. Then they can't say I ignored them/was mean to them, and I didn't promise to do what they want.

Just smile and nod. Virtually. If it gets really bad, then just warn them and show em whose boss. Like Snakker said, just say you appreciate their feedback and you will consider any and all ideas. That ought to shut them up. Anything beyond that warrants a punishment, because it's just trolling, then.

It is, wait until you move hosts and get into the server side stuff, it gets harder.


but if you have members like that, then you obviously dont have good relations with them, if you had a good relationship with em, they would appreciate every mod you put up, etc.

either way, it still gets annoying, but I get what your saying, but thats the thing with getting a new forum, if you move or upgrade it even, theyll be alot of bugs for you to fix.

If they say the forum sucks, they're lying: If it sucked so bad, they wouldn't even be there. If their nagging gets too persistent, take what they're asking into serious consideration. If it is a real outlandish request, tell them to get over it.

If people complain on and on, I tell them to leave. If it pains them so much to visit the forum, then why stay.
