Why is that most forms these days have a large amount of staff. Like, I've seen this for forums with 500 members:

5 admin
5 G-Mods
15 Community Purpose Team

That's crazy IMO. Way to many. What I'm saying is why add so many staff members just cause your getting more active. Yes you will need a helping hand but people just over do it.

What are your opinions on the Staff Count on forums? What is your limit and why? Are Community Team memebers more important than Mods? There basically the same.....just one has more "authority" than the other.

Instead of 5 elites and 1 Mod. I'd rather see 1 Mod and 5 memebers. Makes the forum community seem larger in members which is attracting for guest who are thinking of joining.

I have it where it's 5:20+ (Staff:Members). That's not counting Elite of course since they're basically not staff, but I also got a limit for Elite. 1:5.

With those ratios your place doesn't give it the "OMG. IT'S SOOOO EASY TO BE PROMOTED!" feeling.

Forums with more active staff than members is kinda weak. While DU is kinda like this, the few active memebers do keep it active...to a point.

Yes, my 5:20+ and 1:5 is only if the members are active. If they aren't then I won't need staff.

I don't even see the point of Elite memebers. As long as a memebers name is a different color or has a symbol next to it, there on staff in one form or another.

I say on a active forum abotu 500 members plus 2 Main admins 1 community admin and 1 Techinical if needed.abotu 4 G-mods and 4 Community because Your G-mods arent ALWAYS going to be on and see everything.

It depends on the quality of your staff (hint: see my articles), if your staff is going to be quality, then obviously you won't need that many. Unfortunately this isn't always the case.

Personally, not necessarily in this site's case, but 1 admin should normally suit you for quite a while. You can't give administration to someone you don't trust. (See my articles, damnit)

I believe you should never go past 3 Admins, no matter how large the forum is.

Unless you can designate one as webmaster, one as community manager, one as blah blah blah... You get the point. And you all trust one another, and know what the hell you're doing.

I don't see the point to a Community Team, nor Elite members. Why? Cause G-Mods are supposed to be a higher level of member than most, besides an Admin. Meaning you should only make a person Mod if they can do it all.

Like, instead of having so many team...I really would only have two. Admin and Mods.

At ETC we have:

3 Admins
5 Globals
10 Mods

That works for 16,000 members, surprisingly. Some of our people do so much work, if add any more, they'll be stepping all over each other.

For 16,000, 3 Admins and 5 Gmods is excellent, 8 people doing Global universal work over the site means you have some quality members there. Nice work.
