Alright, when ever you visit a new forum, you always see the common "Topic Staples". The topics that almost all the forums use. A prime example would be: "What Are You Listening To?"

What, in your opinions are the topic staples for a starting forum? Or any forum for that matter. This should help some people who are starting up there own forums.

I usually like to see review topics up in gaming forums... and templates for things like RPG profiles.

A big thing on ETC were these "Ask" topics. Started by one of our admins at the time, he basically made a topic for people to ask him anything about anything. And he'd answer all the questions. I think we archived it with like, 1700 replies. It's pretty spammy, but it fun when you've got a funny guy answering.

Milestones are a cool thing too, after a certain ammount of time - on ETC, one year - you can post a topic with shout-outs to your favorite people, and just sorta remember what you've liked about the past year and stuff.

Definatly. But those only work on active forums. Guess I'll try that here if you don't mind

Lol, notice that some of the topic I make say:

The Official "Name Here" Topic!"

Cool way of showing that the topic is famous worldwide.

Topics that ask the members are the staples. Such as "Favourite type of music", "How old are you?", "Favourite type of car" etc.

Also it is very smart to start with questions, as you need to get the post count up. So starting with a board that every reply is at least 20 lines, usualy goes very slow. Once the board gets bigger, the topics usualy get more detailed etc.
