vBa Links Directory v3.2.0 Released!

vBadvanced
vBadvanced Links Directory v3.2.0 has been released and is now available in the Members' Area here for current license holders or new purchases. The latest version includes a few new features focused on resolving most common issues that members have reported. The new features include:
  • Link to Us Page:
    • A new 'Text Links' section has been added where you can enter simple text links without modifying the template.
    • New option to specify the alt text for banner images. If no alt text is specified, the value set for your 'Homepage Name' in your vBulletin settings will be used as before.
    • Banners and text links are now cached in vBulletin's datastore table to prevent a query when accessing the Link to Us page.
  • The 'Verify New Links' setting has been updated to include new options for how links are verified.
Verify URL Headers - This is the same function that has been used in previous versions. It checks the full headers of the link to make sure it is not returning any type of errors. This option is the best for preventing broken or problematic links, though can be problematic and reject a valid URL if it does not return proper headers or is otherwise unaccessible.
Only Verify Domain - This option only verifies that the domain name is valid and does not check headers or other information. This can allow broken links to still be submitted due to the simplicity of the check, but the chances of it rejecting a valid link are far less than when verifying URL headers.
  • New permission setting to allow selected usergroups to bypass reciprocal link checking.
  • New 'Ignore Category Settings For Moderators' setting to allow moderators/admins to override the settings in user-created categories and still have full access to them if the setting is enabled.
  • The 'Auto-Fill Submit Form With Meta Data' setting will no longer use the get_meta_tags() PHP function as it has proved to be unreliable. Custom functions using CURL or file_get_contents() have been created to replace it.
  • The 'Reciprocal Link URL' setting has been updated to support multiple domains for those who require reciprocal links and have multiple domains that may be linked back to.
  • A better function has been added for trimming link descriptions to prevent any issues with the description being cut off in the middle of HTML tags.
  • All currently known bugs & issues have been corrected.
