It gives me great pleasure to announce and provide some preliminary information about our plans to hold an event this summer. After the success of Londonvasion 2008, we expressed our intention to hold annual events in different locations around the world. Due mostly to time constraints, we made the difficult decision of skipping the organisation of a conference last summer and instead held or participated in some smaller events (The Management/Developer Meeting, OSCON, etc.). We have been accumulating our excitement and are determined to make up for lost time this year!When?21st August, 2010We chose a date that would not conflict…
phpBB moves source code versioning from Subversion to Git
46 Views Published 1 week, 4 days ago in phpBBHello,The phpBB development team would like to inform our users of a major change concerning the development infrastructure of phpBB. As you may well know phpBB has used Subversion for version control since January 2008, at that time we moved away from CVS which had been used since the project started. Effective from 1st March Subversion is no longer being used as the version control system of phpBB itself, we are now using Git with the main repository being hosted on GitHub.This change doesn’t concern end users who currently do not follow development, but users who use our Subversion repository…

Otherwise, it is possible for users to bypass permission settings under the following circumstances:Feeds…

Hello,Within the last week, it has come to our attention that phpBB.com was unsuccessfully attacked by a malicious party attempting to brute-force account login credentials. This attack was facilitated by a query for “powered by phpbb” on a search engine. Though this attack was not successful as phpBB includes several features to ensure it is not vulnerable to such attacks, users should take measures to ensure that their forums are properly protected.Attack anatomyTo perform the attack, the attacker registers an account on the forum and tests that the memberlist is available for them to obtain lists of users. The attacker…

Owen. When Paul moved on to pursue other endeavors in September of 2005, Meik stepped up to fill his shoes.
